הלכות שאר אבות הטומאה פרק י״ט · 5 Questions
Question 1
One person walked one of two paths (one impure), made pure foods, then purified himself, then walked the second path and made more pure foods. What is the status of the SECOND set?
Halacha 1: after purification between the two paths, the second set is pure. If the first set still exists, both are suspended — but if consumed before inquiry, the second is pure.
Question 2
Two people each walked one of two paths and each made pure foods. They come to inquire TOGETHER. What is the ruling?
Halacha 2: when they inquire together, the combined knowledge that one is certainly impure makes both impure — the pure foods of both must be burned.
Question 3
One impure loaf mixed into 100 pure loaves. All 101 are consumed together. Are the people impure?
Halacha 2: even one impure loaf among 100 pure loaves — all who ate are impure (Rabbinically). Once combined, the impure loaf cannot be nullified; all must be burned.
Question 4
Five people ate from a mixture of 1 impure + 9 pure loaves. Then five more people ate the remaining five. The second group is — ?
Halacha 3: the second group is pure — the first group has no one to attribute the impure loaf to (they are impure), so the second group can attribute it entirely to the first group.
Question 5
One person is definitely pure, another is definitely impure. They each walked one of two paths. If they inquire together, what is the pure person's status?
Halacha 4: when one person is known pure and the other impure (or suspended), the pure person may attribute the impure path to the impure/suspended person — maintaining his purity even in a joint inquiry.
