A person pledged the airech of someone under 20, but the appraisal happens after that person turns 20. Which airech applies?
Halachah 1: The airech is fixed at the moment of the pledge, not at the time of standing before the court. Only the lower amount (under 20) is owed.
Question 2
A poor person pledges an airech but owns only one sela. What happens?
Halachot 2–3: A poor person gives everything he has, even a single sela, and is discharged. The verse teaches: 'according to his capacity' — one sela is sufficient if that is all he has.
Question 3
A poor person whose full airech obligation was discharged later becomes wealthy. Does he now owe more?
Halachah 7: Once the poor person has paid everything he possessed (even just a sela) and was discharged, the obligation is complete. Later wealth does not revive it.
Question 4
What tools are left for a craftsman when the Temple treasurers collect his assets?
Halachah 17: Two tools of each type are left for the craftsman so he can continue earning his livelihood — e.g., two planes and two saws for a carpenter.
Question 5
May Temple treasurers sell a consecrated cow in a distant market for a higher price?
Halachah 20: From Leviticus 27:23 — 'give your airech on that day' — consecrated property is sold immediately in its place and time. We do not embellish, wait for markets, or transport it.
